FAQ

Frequently asked questions

In shortDeviztech is an educational game studio in Lahore, Pakistan. These are the questions clients ask most: how a project works, how it is quoted, who owns the source files, where the games run, and whether we build Arabic, multiplayer and Flash-to-HTML5 games.

Straight answers about how Deviztech works. If yours is not here, ask us.

What does Deviztech do?

Deviztech is an educational game development studio in Lahore, Pakistan, founded in 2018 by Asad Abdullah. We design and build the games inside learning products — browser games, curriculum series, training simulations and real-time multiplayer — for EdTech companies, publishers and training teams.

Who has Deviztech built games for?

We have delivered 334 client projects since 2015, for clients in the US, UK, France, UAE, India, Singapore, Malaysia and Canada — among them Procter & Gamble, Asafeer Education Technologies, eSpark Learning, Uolo, Hydse, Biotherm (L’Oréal) and Biji-biji Initiative. See the case studies.

How does a project work?

Five steps. Brief: you tell us the learning goal, the audience and the platform, and we come back with a game concept and a fixed quote. Design and art: mechanics, screens and characters, approved by you before a line of code. Build: playable builds you can open on a private link from the first week. Test: on the devices your learners actually use. Ship and support: source files handed over, with fixes and new levels when you need them.

How much does an educational game cost?

Every project is quoted from a brief. Tell us the learning goal, the audience and where the game must run, and we reply with a game concept and a fixed quote. A single game has a fixed scope and price; a series, where one set of mechanics is reused across many levels or subjects, is the most cost-effective way to build a library; and an ongoing team works on a monthly or quarterly retainer. Send us a brief to get a number.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the scope — a single mini-game is far smaller than a 25-game curriculum series — so send any deadline with your brief. You get playable builds on a private link from the first week, and we usually reply to an enquiry within two working days.

Do we own the source files?

Yes. Source files are handed over at the end of every project. It is your game.

Where do your games run?

In any browser, with no install: school Chromebooks, tablets, phones, office laptops and touch-screen kiosks. We can also embed a game in your web app or mobile webview and report scores back to your system, or wrap it for app stores.

Which tools and engines do you use?

Construct 3 and JavaScript or TypeScript for HTML5 games, Unity (C#) where a project needs it, and Colyseus, an open-source game server, for real-time multiplayer. We choose by where the game must run.

Can you take over or fix an existing game?

Yes. We upgrade Construct 2 projects to Construct 3, take over projects other people started, find and fix bugs, and re-style a game for a new brand. See Construct 3 game development.

Do you build Arabic educational games?

Yes, Arabic-first: right-to-left design from the start, typography that keeps diacritics, recorded Arabic audio and bilingual builds. We have built games for Asafeer Education Technologies in Dubai since 2021. See Arabic educational games.

Can you convert Flash games to HTML5?

Yes. There is no reliable automatic converter, so we rebuild each game in HTML5 — same rules, art, sounds and scoring — from your .fla files or from the .swf alone, and hand back the source. See Flash to HTML5 conversion.

Can you build multiplayer games without per-player fees?

Yes. We build real-time multiplayer games on Colyseus, an open-source server hosted on your own infrastructure, so there are no per-player fees to a third-party service and your learners’ data stays with you. See multiplayer learning games.

Where are you based, and can you work in our time zone?

We are in Lahore, Pakistan (Bahria Town). We work with clients in every time zone — most of them we have never met in person — by email and WhatsApp.

How do I start?

Use the contact form or email [email protected]. Tell us what your learners need to learn, who they are and where the game must run; we usually reply within two working days with an approach and a quote.
